Foundry process

OMEGA Continuous Sand Mixer

OMEGA is the pioneer in continuous sand mixing machines. In the early 1960s molasses and silicates were used; by the 1970s furan resin bonded sand became popular for mould production due to its flexibility and speed of curing — and OMEGA modernised and customised its technology accordingly.

The mixer blends sand with resin and a catalyst or hardener within 3 to 5 seconds — almost zero wastage, full additive control. Continuous sand mixing is essential for an efficient foundry.

Material testing

SPECTROMAXx Metal Analyzer

The SPECTROMAXx stationary metal analyzer is used for material testing in foundries and for incoming and outgoing inspections in the metal industry worldwide. It determines 26 major elements including carbon, phosphorous, sulfur and nitrogen.

The latest arc spark OES generation cuts operating costs and measuring times with less maintenance — while keeping exceptional precision and stability. Our foundry labs run the latest SPECTROMAXx analyzers.

Metal Cutting Band Saw

Band saws cut a wide range of metal types and grades with smooth results in tougher metals. We also use them to part-off risers of alloy steel castings — avoiding thermal shocks to the cast parts.

Casting simulation software

MAGMASOFT improves metal casting quality, optimises process conditions and reduces production costs. Using virtual Design of Experiments and Autonomous Optimization, robust parameters and casting layouts are established for all cast materials and processes — including heat treatment and melt metallurgy.

It covers melting and metallurgy, pattern and core-making, cleaning and repair — a virtual test field to reduce casting defects without production risk.
